Another nice DDO from 1936. This is die 003 (3-O-V - FS-015 - FS-103) in a PCGS slab MS63RB. Coin courtesy Watersport collection. Die 003 sports a nice spread in the motto, doubling in LIBERTY, a touch on the 36 and again some in the ear and hair details. Like the other two DDOs, this involved one hubbing with the broken R hub.

One more, a collaged image of LIBERTY...

I saw the MS 66 Red one Teletrade crossed the $1800 mark last week the last I looked, but then later, did not sell. This was a $190 coin for me in a SEGS holder that I crossed. Die # 3 is not as sought after compared to its brothers and is much less in equal grades.

Nice Pics again!!!!!

The 1936 003 is an interesting strike. Good pics, thanks.

Great pictures. I am going to check some of my 1936 cents. I think I found a match. Thanks!

Pick up point is really the motto (IGWT). All three big DDOs have that broken R, so that can be a starting point when searching but is no way an indication it has to be a doubled die. On circulated examples all three DDOs tens to loose doubling in LIBERTY fast. The date holds up ok, the motto usually has the most staying power. Die 003 is underrated but still a great DDO.

Couldn't help but take a few more mid-sized pics. I was not able to take pics like this before.

I cannot post photos yet, but will try an explain.

The 1936 2 examples I am examining are well circulated, but exhibit the broken "R" and thin upper east "Y". On one, the "R" the bottom west is almost missing. On the other, there is the faintest show of doubling on the west side of the cross-member of the "T" in "TRUST".

Any thoughts based on the info?

Just the T or Y as a hot spot does not sound like hub doubling on a mid-'30s Lincoln. Mid coin doubling, when it shows die doubling, tends to be a light (partial) extra hubbing like 1942-S DDO-001 or 1909 DDO-001. What you have could easily be machine doubling, maybe even die wear. A distinctive notch along with extra thickness are stronger evidence than the appearance of mere doubling. Post photos in new thread if you generate them.

Sounds great. Again the coins are worn, but I think the additional thickness is present, however, I think you are probably right.

Thanks for the GREAT PICS!
