Hello again,
I picked up 4 bags last week and finished searching most of them over the weekend. The first three were well below average, but I saved the best one for last by pure chance and it was loaded with nice early memorials and averaged 38.5% copper. In the mix were several hundred BU 1964 P and D cents. I knew with such a large group to search, I was bound to find some good class II DDR's. I was quite surprised when about 50 coins into my copper pile out popped this beauty! An EDS version of 1964D-1DR-004 which is a really nice class I DDR. The doubling on this coin was so dramatic, I first thought it was a new discovery. I had never seen such pronounced split serfs on a '64-D before. They are present on nearly every device on the reverse including all outer devices, E. Pluribus Unum and the right side of the Memorial building. I found an example of this die earlier this fall, but that coin was a washed out MDS/LDS example that looked nothing like this new coin. In EDS, this coin is nearly as dramatic as the 1964P-1DR-001. I wish I had Jason's photo skills to really do this coin justice, but you will have to live with my hack jobs for pictures instead:LOL_Hair:.
I still have a bunch more of these early memorials to check, so hopefully the finds will continue! If not, I will be more than content with this find! Hopefully, everyone else is making some fun finds also. Have a great week everyone!
