It looks like machine doubling to me. Though, it does seem quite tricky. lol

EDIT: Nice pics btw... sometimes it can be difficult to get nice pics of proofs. You did a good job.

I think what you are seeing, if you look closely while changing the perspective of the lighting, appears on both sides of the lettering, much like the "Longacre" doubling does on Indian Head cents. It is part of the design.

I believe machine doubling is quite common on proofs. I would say that this coin has a case of subtle MD.

IMHO this is MD, not the subtle kind. Keep on searching you never know what you will find.

Look at pic#2. It appears on ALL sides of the letters, east, west, north , and south.

I that case, I think it might be the light angle giving the appearance of doubling.

I agree with others... BTW, what is your setup for the pics? What scope, camera and such? These are really good pics!!!

As noted it is MD. There something distinctly deceptive about mild MD on a proof coin. Look for notching when seemingly subtle separation lines appear present.

thank you i use a kodak easyshare m 340 with a stereo microscope dual lights for closeups and just the camera with a cheap 2.5 eyepice looks funky but works great for me i take a lot of pics for some of the coins at vamworld for the vams the crmera has taken over 5000 pics and still works great

thank you the dbling on cents on worn coins are really tough for me sometimes i dodnt think ill ever find one with real dbl on it other than my 95 i found i am not giving up
