I finally took the time this weekend to do a shootout on a range of objectives in the 4-6x magnification range. I am hoping this will be useful for folks when choosing an objective for shooting variety photos.

All the objectives are RMS mount unless otherwise noted. They require an adapter from your camera mount to RMS.

Here is the list of objectives tested, in no particular order:

Thanks for the pics Ray. I think out of these shots I prefer the ones from the Canon 35mm f2.8-f22 Macrophoto and the Nikon Plan 4 0.13. Both currently out of my budget but worth noting as future options.

I just received a very inexpensive objective (4x Plan NA 0.1 160/-) off eBay for $10:

I like it a lot, especially for the price! It's fairly sharp to the corners on APS-C. Here is the same 56-D Cent with the new objective:
