Hi, I just wanted to know if this a 1942D-1MM-006 or is it just a die chip? I am talking about the bottom of the D mint mark. Thanks.
Wanted confirmation on a 1942D-1mm-006

Definitely not 006. Always match the location of the MM first to narrow it down, then look for markers. But the first thing to look for is the RPM itself. Are you seeing splits serifs somewhere,an extra MM,or just keying in on the anomaly below the MM ?Comment

Here are more pictures of the D MM. I see split serifs on the top left of the D. Also I wanted to know if what the arrows are pointing to are die chips, damage, or possibly more D's?Attached Files-SteveComment

1MM-006 doesn't show split serifs, so I'm not sure how you could come to the conclusion that it matches your coin. PersonLly, I am seeing a damaged cent.Comment

As others have mentioned, this is not 1MM-006. There are MANY things going against it including the mint mark location, the way the anomaly looks, the location of the anomaly on the mint mark, and the fact that is not an RPM. The rest of the things you point to is damage to the coin from circulation. The marks to the right would not be present on the die. Basically, this is a well circulated 1942D cent, and unfortunately not much more than that.Bob Piazza
