Check ou the G on the initials. Is it a zinc zit, or a repunch?:tinysmile_hmm_t2:

Devices like the initials are not repunched on the dies. There are some older cases of the master die have some engraving work, but no punching of alphabetic or numeric characters. I would guess that it is either a plating issue or a hit, maybe a combo of the two.

It cannot be a re-punch. I would say either a linear plating bubble, as Jason suggested, or some damage to the die itself.

the coin looks great besides that one spot, unlikely it is a zinc spot. What do you think?

A plating bubble can appear anywhere on a plated cent at random, and be completely isolated, so that is a very reasonable explanation. I think it could also be die damage. The important thing is to recognize that it is not a valuable form of doubling. Good eye, though, picking up on that anomaly.

When they started making these pennies out of anything besides copper, they messed up. Now it takes twice the time to spot these anomalies, which is a damn good word for these zinc zits. "anomalies"

Im keeping it, it seems to have an appeal to it. Pretty coin.

Considering the zincolns have been out for over 30 years, it shouldn't take twice as long to spot varieties. Once you look at enough of them, you can tell pretty quickly what is plating or zinc related. Don't make more work for yourself. If you end up staring at a spot for longer than a few seconds trying to figure it out, chances are it is not necessarily something worth keeping any way.
