I have here another well worn coin with hard to determine features... The Y on liberty looks split, the W of WE looks split in the middle, as well as GOD and some of the letters in TRUST. The reverse marker on the corner of the memorial has a crack like that in the one on CC.com IMO... What do you think??

This is not 1DO-001. I think this is a normal coin.

A lot of contact marks. Be hard to tell what was there. IMOHO

The 1973P had some master die doubling. Matt has some good pictures of it somewhere. I think that is what we are seeing here.

I do see the line in the W of we but based on that alone it's hard to say yes or no.
I'd check the top ball of the B of liberty, If it's 1DO-001 it should still show there.

I'm looking at the lines in WE too, as well as what appears to be a notch on the R in TRUTH. I wasn't aware of a doubled master for 73 though and it may very well be that.

I think the PUP for the 73p-1do-001 would be the center point of the W and the extra thickness and separation lines in GOD inwhich this coin has neither. ;)

Here's a link to someone else inquiring about a 73 ddo with images that show the MDD from both myself and Jason (http://www.lincolncentresource.net/forums/showthread.php?t=25143)

Yes, the center of the 3 shows a split, I believe.

The Master Die Doubling only effects the 3 of the date. The center of the 3 shows a split and the outside edge sometimes looks doubled.
In my experience with this doubled die, the most prominent and most distiquishable part of this DDO is the splits and notching of the W in WE. I'm not seeing that here. When I have a well circulated or worn die, I go to the W, but that's just me.

Thanks Rock. Your photos show the center point of the W better than any of the other photos I've seen online. That would indeed be the easiest pick-up point for 001.

I was going to say that about the '73 DDO I have here, that I got from Rock, but he already did! I don't think yours is the one Larry.

This motivated me to pull out 16 rolls of 73s that I have on hand, so will the real DDO-001 please stand up?:LOL_Hair: Maybe I can get an example of the MDD.
