Here is an example of a 2006D Lincoln Cent reverse.

In the first bay, is that a rather large die chip or a folded pile of lamination (from a different cent)?

Die chip. We sometimes call 'em "hornet's nests" because of their location.

They slowly chip out. I found in a couple of rolls a progressive. You might enjoy it.
