Looks like machine doubling from the picture provided, but straight-on photos may reveal otherwise.

Its MD sorry when looking for DDOs for that date look at the tails of the 9 for extra thickness and uneven thickness in 8.

I really wish I could say "wow a big DDO"...

But that looks like classic MD. You can see where it made a shelf and made the normal digits thinner where you see the shelf.
But it is a neat example of MD.

I hope your next one will be a big fat DDO :)

my 8 is fat & seems to be doubled on top of last 9? Appease me & you can tell all when they say"that's not a DDO" That your were just feeling sorry for the poor girl...lol:(

This coin is similar to the 1989 with MD in my MD thread here: http://lincolncentresource.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6528

Look for notches (class II) or just a plump extra thickness without marginal stepped doubling on 1989s. Another class could always be lurking out there, in that case again look for notching over pseudo-separation lines or apparent doubling.
