I found this and wanted to know and have reassurance that this is an S/D mint mark. Thanks.

Sure looks like it Steve, can you clean out inside the S with some acetone and a GENTLE toothpick?

I tried to clean it with a toothpick before I posted and that is as clean as I can get it. I am afraid to use acetone because I am not familiar with cleaning with chemicals. The toothpicks I have are kind of too big to get in the lower loop. Sorry I can't get it any cleaner. Thanks for replying though liveandie!:tinysmile_hmm_t:

Don't be shy of acetone- just be sure to read the many posts here about precautions. More safety precautions for yourself than the coin, but important. PURE acetone won't hurt any coin made of metal.

As for the toothpick, you can sharpen one with a knife, or if you have a rose thorn handy, that'll work even better.

I tried to find the most pointiest toothpick in my box of toothpicks. Here is a pic after using it on the S. I hope this helps.

Looks like it to me too. Great find! Does it have any of the markers?

Nice find!

On most of these you can see the upper curve of the D along the center of the S but i think on yours some gunk and flattening of the center of the S hid it.
These are a really tough one to find!
