What scope are you using ?

I purchased a cheap ($40) Digimicro scope and after having it in my possession for 18 hours, Im ready to buy another one. They claim 2 megapixels, but its not. The lighting system consists of 8 LEDs with 3 settings: Off, Not Enough and Too Much.

I use an Amscope trinocular. They'll run you more than the small, but they aren't unreasonable.

Do a seach of Amscope on the forum here and you'll get lots of good advice and opinions.

I got this one and its a great scope, all metal adjustable stand, it does everything you see in the video description and I received the item in a few short days. Very pleased.

For the money, you can not beat this and I have wasted enough money to know. Good luck in whatever you decide and if you can afford the amscope, get it.

Hi John. I used to use this one that I got from ebay for $200. (A Dino-Lite). I really liked iot alot, (except for some things). At least you could control the lights off or on. With them off, you could use an alternate source for different effects. I don't use it much, but I'm keepin it around.

You only get so many 'thanks' every couple days, and you must have used yours up. They will reload in a day or so.

I use a digimicro and I love it, especially at the price. You just need to tinker with it a bit, and try using alternative light sources. Beats spending a G in my book, but I have to work for a living.

The first thing I had to do was weigh down the base with huge washers to keep it from falling on the coins. So even before I can install the software I was aggravated LOL.

Oh, right. I remember that now. :sign10: I don't use the base at all. Hand held works better. You can move the scope around much easier than the coin. I just got used to it, I guess.

I know this thread is a few months old, but I think I'll try this. I found one on eBay that I'm bidding on. I hope yours is still holding up!

Yes, I love the scope and have been metal detecting now since the weather changed and use it to post my finds. I would like to sell them myself with all the referrals, I should get a commission from those folks.

Glad to hear its still working! I have 40 minutes until I found out if I'm the new owner. Good luck with the MD. I went once this year before I got sick. Now I have my AT Pro and Pro Pointer in the closet collecting dust. :/

Thank you for this thread. Long story short my (good) husband purchased the wrong microscope for me. I have not opened it yet. Really do not want to spend the money to send it back to get the right one so I'd like to ask if anyone here has used this one or is using it and how is it working for you. Im really not feeling it and want your thoughts on it. I know a lot of the issues with these type of microscope is lighting so...your thoughts please and thank you!!
