Here's the one and only CUD in my collection. I believe it to be from 1989 due to what part of the date is shown and that it exhibits RDV-006. I don't have that (one?) CUD book (I forgot the title), so I don't know if it is listed or what designation it may have.

Are these collage photographs I am posting helpful (or interesting)? I don't have any real way to take good closeups (yet). So the best I can do is make highlights from my collection look (at least) interesting...

Very cool! I would say you're right about it being a 1989.

Hi Jcuve,

That looks like a split planchet from the pics. The layer of copper has split and fallen off. Unless the picture is just playing games with my eyes... wouldn't be the first time. I love your pics, Very artistic. Closer pics would be needed for authentication/diagnosis but great looking in my opinion.

This section of the coin IS lower than the rest of the field isn't it?

"This section of the coin IS lower" - do you mean that blob on the front? Or the area on the back? The blob on the front is higher and the back in the same area is depressed. I'll try and take a closeup with a loupe later if I have time...

It is the way I lit the coin, I can see that it makes the area look inverted when you look at it the right way...

Thanks, grnwavdav, Lestrr & Roger

I think this shows that the area in question is elevated. I took several shots and most had that optical illusion that it could be recessed - LOL

Those are great pictures Jason C. Nice coin!
I know what you mean by photographs being deceiving. I find that when looking at the memorial in a picture it sometimes looks as if the smooth area is prominent and raised.
It is fascinating how our eyes and brain are sometimes out of sync.

It is a cud. The first pic is an optical illusion.
