My wheat pennies came in from eBay today and I must say, I was impressed. The first order of business was to sort them by decade. After spending several hours on this task, I looked over my plunder and was amazed. In addition to the usual 40's and 50's we all find, I was surprised to see a large pile of 30's, 20's, and teens. Of course what wheat lot would be complete without a few 1909 pennies. There were seven 1909's in fact and one 1909 vdb. There was also plenty of "S" mint coins to be had. I found one lone 1926-S hiding as well and about a dozen 1943's with various mm. All in all, I am happy with what I found. Please keep in mind that I haven't searched them all yet. There was well over 3,000 of them. Now, I must retire to bed before my wife kills me and then divorces my corpse. :)

That's pretty impressive for an internet lot. Most have already been searched through already. I bought 400 from an auction site the other week and got all '30's, 40's and 50's...a dead giveaway that they'd been sorted through by someone.

Anyway, good job on the finds!

Thanks! The seller is also forum member but it was an eBay auction. I won't post names unless he's ok with it. This is probably the nicest lot I've ever had.

LCR ebay sellers always have quality items for sale. Hope you find some treasures in the lot!

Indeed. I'm glad it was a forum member. Good people here. :)

Yes, but searched for what? You have to realize that die variety hunters make up less than 10% of the entire hobby. I can see large lots being searched for key dates, that's a gimme, but I have bought NUMEROUS lots on the bay that rendered doubled dies and RPMs. My best lot to date was a lot of 1500. I paid like 3 1/2 cents each. About 300 were pre 1940. All coins were close to fine condition or better. I found 52 RPMs, most minor, about 8 CPG RPMs. I also found 4 DDO, one which was a CPG variety.

I have had more good batches than bad off of eBay. I just make sure I get them at the right price. Can't go wrong that way.

You do realize that if your Wife is a widow, you can't marry her Sister.

I'll just send the sister your way then. Keep in mind though, she's 23 and my wife is 28 but I already have the "hot" sister. :LOL_Hair:
