I thought it might be fun to start a thread about the top 3 varieties you most want to find roll hunting or cherrypick. And those you can check off you found list. Found: 1973 DDO # 1 - wanted to find this one so so bad. Almost impossible to find. Very few examples exist. Graded Anacs 55 Found: 1910s rpm #2- cherrypicked from dealer. Anancs ms62. Sold Now PCGS AU 55. Found: 1922 no d weak reverse - got it back it change. Now Pcgs EF 45. Want: 1996 DDO # 1- I keep looking. Really a hard to impossible coin to locate. Want: 1972 DDO #4 - I need it to complete the run. I have found several with the reverse . Want: 1966 DDO#1 - I have had the chance to buy a few over the years. Most were just to low grade or so spotted up.

I make my living looking through bank rolls, finding and selling cherry pickers and better varieties. We've gone through a lot of rolls and have found a majority of the good stuff, some multiple times, but there is still a few I haven't found....yet. Those would be Top Shelf rarest of the rarities, ie, 1992 CAM, 69-S, etc. After finding so many of the so called impossible finds, I'm convinced it's just a matter of time and rolls before I find the rest. Hows that for optimism?

1911-D/D RPM FS-503
1930 D/D RPM FS-02
1942 DDO FS-102

Interesting that you mention the 1942. It seems like out of all the FS listed DDOs this is one of the scarcest that's not a well known big dog. I never see people mention it but it's a really scarce coin and deserves special attention. :)

You guys have me itching to open the 69-S OBW rolls I've picked up over the years. I just KNOW there are several DDO's in one or more of them! C'mon, they can't be as difficult to find as the 55-S RPM#1, can they?

For the longest time, I bought 56-D tubed and OBW rolls in hopes of finding RPM #8, #18, and the DMM. Now I'm in sell mode and will be searching the 56-D's I have put aside, like I did the 55-S. Maybe I will finally get lucky and find that roll of gem #8's.

On top of my want list though are the 43-D's that are so elusive. I've found Doubled Dies but never any RPMs in BU rolls of 43-D. I think they've all been searched long before I get to them.

I find it pretty cool that most of the top searched/desired varieties are Memorials. I don't do Memorials at all (except for those 69-S, oh please oh please) so am at a loss as to the rarity of them.

Finally, I have a bunch of 58-P OBW that I picked up over the years as well, hoping for the 58 DDO. I'd be happier finding one/some of those than the 69-S.

... Want: 1972 DDO #4 - I need it to complete the run. I have found several with the reverse...

Are you saying that you found several 1972-P doubled die REVERSE Lincolns?!?!?!?!? I would absolutely love to see those pics, if you have any. I was under the impression that particular variety was rarer than the 1972-P DDO. And you are claiming to have found several of them?:tinysmile_eyebrow_t Perhaps that variety is not as rare as some would believe...

No, what he is saying is that he has found several coins with the same reverse that was paired with the DDO #4. There are several LCR members that have run across the reverse without the DDO obverse.

Thank you for clarifying that for me, seal006. That'll teach me to read more carefully and not read into what others are saying. My apologies, as it appears I have a slight obsession with the idea of finding a 1972-P DDR. Thanks for keeping me in check!

It is good to learn. The reverse can also make one overly excited, only to be disappointed when they flip it over and see no #4 on the obverse. I am guilty of that on more than one occasion.
