It looks like a bad rim dent.

What is a rim dent? Is it your personal explanation of the anomaly? Could it be damage? If it is, I believe the question was answered 3 days ago.

I am just curious as to where you came up with that description. Ultimately, we want our members to know what it is and we should be agreeable as to the explanation. After 45 years in the hobby, I have yet to hear the term 'Rim Dent'.

I don't know, that the phrase I've always heard. It is what happens when a coin is dropped onto a hard surface-- the rim collapses inward like that.
