Hi all, I am new to the close and wide AM varieties, but not Lincoln cents in general. I found this beauty on a buy it now and nearly had a heart attack! There's some obverse haze but the reverse is sharp and clear.
Should I resubmit this coin or just auction it as is? I know these are still going strong, but would like some of you guys' input on it.
Thanks and I will be looking for more this weekend!
Nice find, and welcome to the LCR. If you are a member of PCGS and you submit other coins, It would not hurt to resubmit. I would not join, and just send it by itself. That would cost too much. Try to sell it the way it is with a BUY IT NOW with best offers. See what happens.

If the coin is not submitted as a variety coin they most likely will not attribute it that way.
Also the coin could have been encapsulated prior to the knowledge of the Proof Wrong Reverses were discovered.
I would have the problem corrected by sending it to a authorized PCGS dealer or if a friend is signed up for PCGS and you trust him have them submit it. You can also use a crossover to another grading firm to have them encapsulate it. (Just My Point of view and suggestions)!
I would document the number of the encapsulated coin and photograph it.
Nice and Congrats!!! Super!!!

i would think if you are gonna try and sell it - that the correct label would be beneficial. I see on PCGS price guide that a normal coin is 12 dollars and the close am is 500 dollars.
If someone was gonna spend bigger money on a graded coin, they would want the correct label and check the serial number on the PCGS web site.
i would if it was me. just my thought

Or you could sell it (Like on eBay) how they always say DOUBLE ERROR..Wrong label type thing..I would just get it re-slabbed

Hello all and thanks for your input. I have decided to sell the 1999s proof close am lincoln cent as i have another one coming. I hope i'm not breaking any rules by divulging this information - if so i apologize -
it is probably the only one listed currently, so finding it should not pose a problem. My handle on this foruum is the same as my seller name on ebay.
Good luck!
Your not breaking any rules. Good luck with the auction. You can post the link if you would like. I would be curious to watch it.

When you right click on the top line called the address line click on copy. You can then right click in a post and click on paste. It will put the address line of the page that you copied. I hope this helps.

Oh - I guess I am behind the times. I didn't think it would be that easy. Thanks for your help!!! Thought I'd do it straight auction to test the waters...
Still searching for the elusive 1998 S close am - I heard it's a real ghost. One 1998 S Lincoln Cent Close am PCGS PF69 just sold for close to $1500.
