Here is an example of a 1946S Lincoln cent. It is somewhat worn and there seems to be a bit of machine doubling.

But, the mint mark appears to be inverted.

What do you think?

I'm no expert, but I don't see how anybody could say for sure because of condition. The S looks smashed.

It was hard trying an overlay, but I believe the MM is in a different spot than IMM-001. That said I am not even sure which style MM this is with that much circulation wear. I don't think it's ball serif. I am thinking it might either be a san serif or a trumpet tail.

The mintmark is a different type than the one that is inverted. The mintmark in the above image appears to be a squashed "sans serif", while the inverted mintmark is the ball serif.

This is what I thought too: a squashed "sans serif," but I couldn't be certain with the damage.

I see it as a squashed serif mintmark. In fact, I'm sure that's what it is.
