Wanted to know if this is possible? I thought machine doubling at first then noticed that the mint mark on top was raised as though it were sitting on top of the large mint mark. Here are pictures, they were all taken at the same distance and magnification. I've also taken pictures of the large S mint mark and put them both side by side. Thanks.

I'm thinking it's ejection doubling.

This is machine doubling.

First, if a large mintmark had been used once in 1929, stands to chance it would have been used many times. There are no documented cases of the use of a large mintmark in 1929 at San Francisco.

Second, deep mintmark punchings are pretty common back then, and machine doubling on the mintmark as a result are common too.
