With the new phone camera at 41 Mpix I can see the advantage. However, I am not to sure what other settings the camera phone has. Those settings do make a difference.

Seems like a different glass lens would get you better shots. Plastic is blurry. The design could be tweaked a little and you could get full coin shots. Perhaps a dark colored cloth would help remove glare. Just a few ideas off the top of my head. But I've got a scope, so I'm OK.
