A lot of people will know me from other websites.
I've collected coins for more than half a century but curiously cents were one of the last for me. My brothers got first crack at all the Lincolns so I collected buffalo nickels. When I began specializing in modern coins the cents were less interesting to me because so many were saved out every year and Gems were relatively abundant. I never got lucky finding varieties so Lincolns were on my back burner.
But over the years as the cent became incidental then worthless and then less than worthless my interest picked up year by year. Sure, Gems are nicer and more abundant than ever but they get more interesting in circulation and varieties come my way more as I pay more attention to them. Some of the Gems are pretty tough and there are fewer surviving each year. Cents just get more interesting every year.
I recently found what looks almost like a new type and am hoping to get opinions.
