First off it looks like a hit but use a tooth pick or a rose thorn and clean out that junk in and around mintmark so its easier to make a conclusion.

I would definitely do what Jacob suggested, but at this point, I don't see anything substantial. BTW...Your title reads OMM, but this would be considered an RPM if there were another punching there.

it was nothing but I received some great advice on how to get rid of the mess around the mint mark. now I have a better understanding on how to remove debris.

Use some distilled water or acetone with the toothpick/rose thorn to minimize any damage. Practice on a coin you know how no value first. It is really easy to damage the surface of a coin.

thanks jcuve, tried the tooth pick and it worked ok but was a little bulky to get into the curves. tried to sand to a better point but it just splintered badly. I went to the rose bush I have outside and that was the way to go. I was even able to sand a point without it falling apart. thanks for the advice. Even though this is great for removing debris from a questionable area to get a better look, I think that I will have to be very selective as to if I want to risk possibly damaging the coin.
