The loop of the 9 is pointing towards the mint mark. Large date.

Close-up of the date would help but the high 7 seems to fit the bill for small date.

I agree that appearance of the 9 would dictate large date and the loop of the 9 also looks to be large date. However, without closer look I don't know if those appearances are caused by some post mint damage/hits. The 7 clearly rides high though and that is indicative of a small date.

Can you take a close up of the date? Otherwise, if there is no hit apparent on the tip of the 9 call it a large date.

You have a large date there. No question about it. The "height" of the top of the 7 is by far the most difficult of the diagnostics to use, yet, for some mysterious reason, it is one everybody wants to use!!! Let's all stop doing that. As noted, the direction and bluntness of the inner curl of the 9 is good diagnostic, but if you want to look at the 7, look at the bottom of it, instead of the top. On a small date the bottom of the 7 and 0 are in line with each other. On a large date, the 7 extends well below the bottom of the zero. This is pretty hard to mess up. Another decent diagnostic is the strength of the word LIBERTY. Yours is bold. A small date will have a "weak" LIBERTY. The only problem with this diagnostic is that wear can effect the look of LIBERTY, but it is a great confirmation. Also, on a small date, the zero is much more circular than on a large date. On a large date the zero in way more oval in shape. Refer to the pictures in these links with these tips in mind and you will never wonder again. Good luck!

I had trouble for awhile with these. So find 1969 penny. Look at the the nine's. anything that is curved at that point or lower is a large date. Then if you could kick the tail just a little upward. Next the 0 there are also difference in size and shape.

Your first pic was good enough, as Will stated...no doubt it is a large date.
