The heights of the entries have been wonky for me. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it either. The first entries are usually the correct height, then the rest are way too tall. The number of correct one varies though...
I am aware of the php issue and there actually is a reason you see it. It does not effect the listings and has to do with the extra thread fields that are displayed underneath each title. "Extra thread fields" is a product option that was added to the code and when those forums are used that have that option this is the result. Even when the fields are not filled in and used the extra space is also introduced.
