Hey gang,
Just felt like posting a couple of photos of the seldom seen 1934 DDO FS-101:

This is a MS64RB and the earliest die state I've encountered of this rare die variety. Got this one from Mel Pruitt, Jr. a few years back when he was liquidating his collection of many prized Lincoln Cent varieties. He owned all 5 or 6 known at the time (including a gorgeous MS65RD.) However, this is the one he saved for his set as it displayed those under digits so clearly.

Hope these two pictures I took will help others identify this subtle, yet dramatic variety. It has been described as having the farthest spread of any date in the entire series.
Thanks for looking.

Very nice. I never fail to look for this when I find a '34. Certainly no luck so far.

That may be the coolest DDO I've ever seen. Stands out from the pack even over the 55's, 69's, and the like. Superb! Just how rare is this coin if I may ask?

Beautiful coin Dennis!

I would love to see a overlay on the lower digits, I tried for quite a while before to do one on the coin on coppercoins.

Coin is 80 years old, but they pop up from time to time. Member WaterSport cherried one a short time ago. I know of 1 in 65rd, 5 in 64rb, a 58, and a couple in the VF-XF45 range (all in PCGS holders like the example above.) You probably can't see this variety below VF 35, because it is not a strong hubbing despite its spread.

Thanks for sharing this amazing example. You already answered a question I have been wondering about for a while now!

Only one in 65rd or up makes it pretty darn rare in my book. Thanks
