This 1988D has a large upper serif on the G that may just be due to a gas bubble from blistered plating since I see other bubbles in the area. It is an important variety so I just want to be certain. Thanks

I think.. Gas bubble... you need the in but you also need the down.. and the top of the G stop is wrong..
get you a 88 and a 89 and look at both the compare yours to both... that should help

If you look at the bottom of the vertical bar there appears to be triangular shaped shadow change. Could this not indicate the flared G for this variety. WAAAAY out of my league here. Just an amateur observation.

That's definitely an RDV-005 with a booger of some kind at the top vertical of the G.

I still say RDV-005

I have been looking at rdv-005 and rdv-006... at the lower bar of the F...
on a rdv-005 it has a slight up slant
on a rdv-006 it is straight..
This looks like this coin has a slight up slant.. so RDV-005
and the location of the G to the memorial looks to me like rdv-005

Joel take another pic of the FG without shadows on the bottom area...
That will sort this out...

Definitely 005 for the reason John mentioned the first time....top flare of the G extends too far for 006.

John, here are a 3 more pics. As I said in my original post, I thought the upper serif was a bubble because there are myriad of them on this Lincoln.
