I have a 2014 DDO 3 that I want to send to ANACS. It has a few very light surface scratches. They can only be seen under magnification and at the right lighting angle. Would ANACS call this scratched? I know that it will affect the grade, I just don't want it to say "SCRATCHED" on the slab. I will just keep it raw if that is the case.

What constitutes a "scratch"

I'm not sure anybody can say with certainty because grading is pretty subjective. Keep in mind that they only use a 7x loupe. Personally, I wouldn't consider this damage, but others might. -
I have a 1992 D CLAM that they would look at the rim and the field to see if it was a put together coin... there is a light scratch from the nose to the rim.. NGC noted it
I covered up the label and had David Lange a grader at NGC look at it..
he said it was a MS coin with no problems.. when I took off the cover and showed him the label he looked again..
he said "oh yes it has a scratch."
my scratch is less noticeable than yours.. but if you tilt mine just right in the light... it is there
Grader's discretion... sorry
I would say yes to scratch on label at NGC and PCGS....
ANACS... I do not know.. but I would think yes there toMember: Florida State representative for the ANA, Florida state representative for CONECA, F.U.N. and the Ocala Coin ClubComment

I think this coin will get a details grade.“What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.”Comment

If that coin was 50 years old and circulated - no problem. But folks expect a recently minted coin..to be scratch free.
