This coin stood out from a bag my step daughter let me look through.
The metal, size, color, and even the sound it makes when dropped is off. It also weighs 2.4 oz.
Has anyone seen anything similar to this before?
Could it be a slug?

Your coin was de-plated outside the mint. Whatever process people use to de-plate coins also often makes them larger in diameter.

Texas Cent: A cent that has been hammered between pieces of (usually) leather, creating a cent with a larger-than-normal diameter. This practice is often used on copper-plated zinc cents as part of a process to split and remove the plating (http://www.lincolncentforum.com/terminology-list-p/#Plating). This would also explain why your coin is thinner.

This describes my coin to the "T". (That does explain why my coin is not perfectly round too).
Thank you willbrooks!
