Wayward Mintmark

This 1957-D has what looks like a wayward mintmark. I'm leaning more to a lamination peel. What do you think?

I would call it a pile of displaced metal. It could be a lamination issue or a hit, but the exact source is largely irrelevant as it does not appear, to me at least, to be a RPM.

Looks like a hit to me... There is also an area just to its NE... A hit across the 5 and the NW of the MM ???
