"How They Make Money" circa 1940

Here is a Youtube video that I recently watched. I thought it might be of interest to others at the LCF.

I have seen this video many times also. I have also done the US Mint tour in Philly a couple of times. My favorite part of this video is the background music, especially when they start melting the metal. If you didn't notice it before fast forward to the 5 minute mark. This cracks me up every time.

Bob, I think that is Flash Gordon music. It was my favorite Saturday morning show when I was a kid.

That is very awesome dramatic music, but the best part of this video is hands down at the 6:38 mark. "The blanking press. Here blank coins are cut out of the strips as easily as a housewife cuts out cookies from batter." The wife was walking by when he said that, gave me the face, and my eggnog came busting out of my nose all over my laptop. Ah, the good ole days!

Not that the mint is behind times but a tour today will yield the same people doing the same thing on the same equipment
