Is there any significance to a 1970 D - no "FG"? ... I'm pretty sure it's not there... thoughts? http://www.lincolncentforum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=102710&stc=1

These do garner some interest, because the 1969 die was put into the Cherrypickers Guide for some reason.

No FG: Lincoln memorial cents (http://www.lincolncentforum.com/terminology-list-m/#Memorial%20Cent) are sometimes missing the FG (http://www.lincolncentforum.com/terminology-list-F/#FG) initials on the reverse. This can be the result of a struck through filled die (http://www.lincolncentforum.com/terminology-list-s#Struck%20Through%20Filled%20Die) or can be the result of over-abrasion of the die (http://www.lincolncentforum.com/terminology-list-a/#Abraded%20Die).

That is definitely a keeper in my book, although these are not all that rare. I have seen coins like this sell for up to $5, but usually more like $1. Still a neat find!

1969 D Missing FG have sold for up around $95. This was back a few years but history sometimes repeats it self.

Thanks you guys for your replies! As a beginner, is this something I should bring to a coin convention to have checked out? There's one this weekend but I'm hesitant ...

Maybe not, coin convention does not mean there will be much interest in errors.
It might be better for ebay, you never know. It could be worth a $1 to someone or much more. You won't know unless you put it up and see what it gets.

Thanks for the advice... I definitely have more coins given to me from family that I should put up and see what it gets.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm hoping history may repeat itself in this case! For my first find, that would be awesome :)
