At a recent show a man was selling several 1995 Ps to the tune of $60 which he claimed to be ddr. My untrained eye was quick to pick up the doubling on ONE and the C of cent, but it looked like machine doubling to me. After a search of my own coins I located 4 or 5 with the same appearence. Does anybody know of this error? sorry but I couldnt get a descent pic to post. Any info would be much appreciated!
1995 ddr or just machine doubling?

I wouldn't go so far as to say there are not any 1995 DDRs because nobody really knows until they are discovered and examined...but what I can say is that a major 1995 DDR has never been reported or examined which raises serious doubt as to whether this dealer's coins were actually doubled dies. I would say they were all a case of similar machine doubling...as were yours.Charles D. Daughtrey, NLG, Author, "Looking Through Lincoln Cents"

There are actually two known Doubled Die Reverses for 1995. One for 1995P and one for 1995D. Both are shown in a pamphlet called 'The Complete Guide To The 1995 Doubled Die Cent Varieties' by John Wexler. They are both pretty minor with the P mint DDR showing extra thickness on the FG and a separation line on the lower right memorial, as well as notching on the 2nd A of AMERICA. The D mint DDR shows some minor notching on the lower left letters of EPU and a notch in the R of AMERICA.Bob Piazza

Collectors with limited experience finding minor doubled dies who pull anything out of change calling it doubled are very likely (better than 95% change) pulling machine doubling.
Like Bob said, the known doubled dies for 1995 reverses are minor. So minor I would doubt anyone except the seasoned hunters would even recognize them if they saw them.Charles D. Daughtrey, NLG, Author, "Looking Through Lincoln Cents"
