I'm thinking they're just gas bubbles... try pressing them with a toothpick. If they don't flatten out you may have something

Looks like gas to me also... May be contamination between the plating and core!!!

I agree. You'll note that your coin has plating blisters all over it. Also, in your title, you call it a bronze cent. It is not. It is a copper-plated zinc cent.

It's a zinc, if it was bronze then it would not have plating or plating bubbles.
If it was bronze then we would all be jumping for joy because bronze/copper 83 cents are super rare. :)
