Hi all- been a while since I have been on here. I have been thinking about getting an amscope for searching, and am wondering if anyone has experience with the USB cameras that they sell for their scopes. Ideally would be able to take both full coin and closeup shots of Lincolns. Thanks.

They are great for close up photo's. But you can't capture the full coin.
MD 35 camera has to much magnification for coins. When I use mine I 'll use my Coolpix by Nikon with it. If it is adjusted right you get a decent photo.
This the model I have.

penny man,

You can get full coins, including cents, as well as close up photos with an Amscope. However this option is rather expensive. I own the following scope:

http://www.amscope.com/stereo-microscopes/3-35x-90x-fiber-optical-light-stereo-zoom-microscope.html (http://www.amscope.com/stereo-microscopes/3-35x-90x-fiber-optical-light-stereo-zoom-microscope.html)

The scope has a triocular zoom head giving you room for a camera and a wide zoom range. This scope has the option of attaching Barlow Lenses to the "end" of the scope which changes the field size. I have attached some very poor photos showing the field size with no Barlow lens attached, then the field range with a 0.3X Barlow Lens attached and a 2.0X Barlow Lens attached. As you can see, using the 0.3X Barlow Lens with the zoom set about mid range, you can get the full coin within the field. I did not spend much time on lighting or focus detail yielding poor photos. I usually take photos using a different system rather than the Amscope.

I hope this helps.
