The question is not determinable from photographs, I know. However, they may convey information about whether this coin was stripped. The color is not exactly right in the pictures, it is blue/greenish grey. The coin has good design definition and some luster. It just does not strike me as a manipulated coin. It weighs 2.6g and the local shop's detector does not register any zinc. Any comments/opinions?

Doesn't look to have ever been zinc plated... Very cool find... It does look as if it had some preservative oil on it at one time... That could explain the very minor corrosion... Maybe Mike Diamond should chime in???

This should be interesting. I'm really curious to see the feedback on this one.

Looks be incased at one time. Maybe whatever it was incased in caused that rust and odd toning.

I think if it never was plated and was bare steal for any length of time that it would be more of a a rusty red color sort of like you see on the rims on a lot of 43 cents..
