    2012 bank box OBV rolls

I'm curious what you guys would do with a solid bank box of 2012 P's. Would you search them or save them for a few decades or so? I'm unaware of any varieties for this year. I know a new variety would command some nice $$$ but I also know that's a needle in a very large haystack.

Also, if you kept them, how would you store the box? My wife has one of those big machines for shrink wrapping large cuts of meat. I wonder if that would work and if the plastic wrap is safe? I've been pondering that concept for slabs as well.

    Thanks for the input!

Ok this may sound strange and I'm not sure where I heard of it but I keep a open box of moth balls in my safe. The vapor they produce is heavier than air and will displace the enviromental air. I have red cents stored this way for over 20 years with no change.

So sad ... My reverse consumption engine was a broken fuel gauge ... gonna look at coins now. John

I would trade them in. Solid date bricks are the worst thing to search. Except 2009 FY...they were fun.

Copper Coins lists some fairly nice DDO/DDRs... maybe there are some new ones in there???

I'm sitting on multiple OBW rolls in boxes for 2011, 12, 13, 14 and 15 and contemplating as well. Other than the room they take up, I may keep them forever. I think you could put your boxes on the bay and get a premium. Otherwise, dump them in the bank if you do not want to hold on. I would not go to great lengths to preserve.

Dang... if they were 2011's I would have to search em all! I usually toss a few solid rolls in with my mixed ones just to keep it interesting

I'd search everyone of them for a potential MS-68, $1100 in a PCGS slab.

I agree with Thad and would search them. So often we get wrapped up in looking for varieties that we forget about plain old, but high end Lincolns. And there are some varieties in that year to boot.

Not only that, the high grade gems are typically worth a LOT more than any of the varieties. IMO, it's important to occasionally get lucky and re-coup some of the costs of our collecting habit. I've found some pretty valuable coins, had them slabbed and resold them in the past. I still consider myself deep in the hole with collecting cash but it's worth it for the enjoyment I get!

OK, Thad and Peter, you guys are going to MAKE me search these coins! My wife wants me to keep them for 20 years and then search them. I think I will search them, save the wrappers, re-roll them with BU 2012's on the ends and junk in the middle, and take my arse chewing in 20 years! Thanks, guys!
