I had this one for a while and never knew what it could be. Worn die? Abraded? Looks odd whatever it is.

What you think??

If you're talking about the shoulder area I think it's abrasion.

And the L looks odd compared to the rest of LIBERTY... (guess it took a hit)

Looks like die damage that the mint tried to remove... What year is the coin???

I call them "Hairy Back Lincoln's" :crossedlips:.. I list mine as Die deterioration, Cold Metal Flow.

I'm talking about more of the doubling. It goes out of the design then it looks like it was attempted to be removed

This looks like abrasive die doubling from a worn die, does not look like hubbing doubling to me.

Thanks for the date... As for the extra there I am not sure but it does look like the mint tried to remove some doubling thru abrasion... The bow at the back of Abes neck is nearly non existent... There should be a larger gap between the top of the collar and the hair... If I remember correctly Mike Diamond stated that die abrasion doubling does not occur (Not sure tho)... Maybe a PM to Mike Diamond would be in order???
