This die crack is so thick, when I first saw it I thought it was PSD. It seems odd to me how it started downward and then took a turn to the left. That deep scratch (at the left of the die crack) must have been on the die face but the die crack did not continue to go in the SW direction, instead it chose S. This die is pretty worn out, as seen on the reverse photo at LB.

What are the lines coming from the rim to the field called? I think I used to know, but I forgot.

Not used to seeing a die crack in that spot. Nice find!

That is a strange spot for a crack... I would like to see the coins from the end of that dies life... Nice crack on the rev die also and from what I have seen that is a normal area for cracks on the shields like the top of the shield also... The lines appear to be an early stage of die flow lines... Nice find!!!

That's it.. die flow lines! Thank you Jim. Die flow lines help determine die state. I'm trying to learn, thank you!

Flow Lines: One of the aspects of die deterioration (http://www.lincolncentforum.com/terminology-list-d/#Die%20Deterioration), flow lines are grooves that develop in the die from the cold flow of the metal from striking coins. Since dies are convex, the cold flow of the metal is outward from the center, and therefore these grooves manifest themselves radially toward the rim on the struck coins. The more coins struck by a die, the stronger these flow lines are, and therefore can be used as a determining factor of die state (http://www.lincolncentforum.com/terminology-list-d/#Die%20State).
