I found this 2015D while roll searching today and it appears to be encased in a clear, smooth, mirror-like finish material. Has anyone seen one like this and what was used to make it look this way? I have never seen one like this before.

First Zincoln dryer coin I've seen, yeah it really messed it up. I know what you mean about the shiny surface, strange how it can be so messed up and still shiny. I have a couple of copper dryer coins that I thought (and still not 100% sure) might be struck thru die cap.

It may be a dryer coin... I am not 100% sure tho... With the amount of detail missing on both sides I would expect the rims to be completely gone... Did you try to remove the clear material from it using acetone???

Thanks, Jim. I will do that and get back to you.

It's a dryer coin. Only "material" I see on this coin is the rim and plating folded back into the field. . I toss these things right in the trash every time I come across one.

I agree 100%.

You are probably correct... Since Larry sees the coin in hand I would think an acetone bath is warranted to be sure especially with the rims still fairly well intact... Rims normally go before the lower details if memory serves me correctly???

Jim, I soaked it overnight in acetone and no change that I can see. Thanks for the thought though! Larry

Thanks for the follow up Larry... Must be my old age but I still am not 100% sure it is a dryer coin!!!
