So, I pulled this one from a small batch of wheats I bought from a coin shop. Happily I trotted to the Red Book and later looked at the Gray Sheet, then ebay, only to feel dejected. This coin has lost a significant portion of its value over the past 5 years. What is going on with the hobby in that respect? Otherwise, where would you grade this? (Those are three minor hits in the NW obverse.)

So did you paid around 4 cents for it?! Not to confidant on grading, but this AU50 has a fair amount of dings...

I'd give it a VF-25 George. Not too sure why values have dropped other than the economy....I know the same thing has happened to Harley Davidson motorcycles...when money gets tight, the toys lose value.

Nope, 3.5 cents. I'm not complaining from that point of view but an outsider (not hunter) may not appreciate how much time and failed batches it takes to come up with one in the wild. Therefore, value versus purchase price fades as a measure of true value. Thanks for the link. I have been watching the bay. My coin looks a lit better than that one for sure.:)

Assuming it does not get details, XF-45. It should go for $80 - $110. Nice profit margin there!
