Hi All,

In my coin club auction last week I won this very nice looking 1899 IHC for what I feel is a reasonable price at just over $100. Now I think I've gotten pretty good at grading uncirculated wheat cents, but this is actually my first uncirculated IHC. I feel the coin is a solid MS64RD with maybe a shot at MS65RD, but I know color designations are very difficult with this series. What are your thoughts on both grade and color? Thanks!

I think you have a shot at 65 if those spots on the reverse aren't deductions...but we really need an IHC guy for a good opinion...grading criteria changes with different denominations. Nice coin no matter.

That is nice... I think you are correct on the RB... Is there a clash near the forehead??? Also is there pitting on the obv/rev or is it orange peel??? If it is not pitting all I can see is some minor spots and a few dings so a 64 or 65 should be about rite!!!

There is a clash near the forehead, and the reverse is more like orange peel. I'm hoping this one comes back full red, it sure is pretty.

Thanks for the follow up... A full red is highly possible since the brown does not show much at all!!!
