Last night I was going through some Lincoln 1982 zinc small dates and was wondering about these ears. I found like 5 of them that look like this

Agree with MD and would add that the anom. reduces the normal size of the design.

Lucybug, I read something the other day on NCG's website that the 1982 small date zinc's are considered scarce so I keep them in any condition. Don't find very many :)
