View Full Version : Error Planchet | Clipped or nipped

Funny thing happened on the way to the forum... it seems I lost the post I thought I had entered earlier today but I cannot find it.
This is either a clipped planchet or someone nipped it with a tool.
What do you think?

Jean,

By looking at your first picture it appears to be hit. If you look at the WE the metal appears to collect at that point. Just my thought's.

After another read of my Error Coin Encyclopedia I do believe it to be a Clipped Planchet. The affected area is sloped down toward the area where the rim should be on both sides of the coin.
This is the last coin from the last box I searched. Onward and upward!

It has the "Blakeley" effect, so it is a genuine clip.
