The 028 at coppercoins.com seems to be the nearest example to this coin. I cannot find a single die marker on either side of the coin that matches the example shown.
Please let me know if you find any other example that would be correct.

Looks like maybe "17" on CC.

Position of the mint mark on my 53D is nearly centered under the tail of the 5.
The mint mark position is more like 028 than any of the other 1953D examples.

I believe what you have found is a 1953D WRPM-024 RPM-024.

Though not specifically cross referenced on CC as such, it is also very likely a CC 1953D-1MM-028.

p.s.

This is listed in James Wiles' 1997-2002 LC RPM Book update.

Howdy wheatcents,
Does this mean the WRPM-024 and 028 of cc are the same variety?
I do not have any of James Wiles books, perhaps I should look into obtaining them.
Thanks for your input!

I believe that may be the case, but I would have to see an example to know for sure what it is. I would have to carefully examine it for markers that would cross.

Hi Roger,
Most of the nice coins I have came from bu rolls I have purchased over the three or so years I have been doing this. This was before the big 'Penny Rush'. Now I would probably be hard put to afford rolls like these if I could even find them.
Thanks,
Jean

Thanks Chuck. I will add this to a batch I am hoping to send one of these days.
