    1983 states bad punch?

    Looks like two different dies struck states look closely to the A 20160423_003708.jpg

    Looks like PSD... I can see damage on the second T as well in line with the damage on the A... The letters were flattened out somewhat!!!

      What you're suggestion is the definition for a class 3 doubled die, two different styled dies. I am not aware of anything making that possible on a 1983 - that said it is always good to keep an open mind and look at everything. From what I see there's some normal circulation damage along with a typical weakness (flatness) in the design from the coin not being fully struck in "STATES of" which corresponds to an openness of the opposing die face design (Lincoln's lower bust specifically).
