View Full Version : Found my lost 1942P-1DO-008!

I found this coin in July 2013. I had only been into coins less than a year. I bought a "mystery unsearched uncirculated wheat roll" from eBay. It was a window roll with paper plugs in each end. When I opened it, none were uncirculated. I was pissed until I searched them. I got this, a 1938S-1DR-001, and a 1935P-1DR-001. I never posted it because all I had was a USB scope. I couldn't get anything to show up. I'm way better now with images, but the circulation still makes it very hard to capture. I hope you can see it. I swear it's the coin. The eye shows well, as does the first T in TRUST. I'm just glad I get to share it here with my friends and not the other forum I used to participate in. I'd probably get some smarta** comment anyway!
I I had misplaced this coin and thought it was lost forever. It happened to be in that little box with the '83 BIE!

Great re-find! There are a lot of cool DDO's for 1942.

Nice find recovery... Attribution looks good... I am thinking a VLDS since there does not appear to be much of the VDB remaining!!!

I have this happen all the time. I will find something, get distracted and set it down, then poof, its gone! I now make a special point to immediately 2x2 any find I make. At least that way it will stand out from all the other nondescript coins lying around - :LOL_Hair:!
Excellent "re-find" by the way. Not an easy die to find!

Same thing here. I try so hard to throw something in a tube or 2x2, but I still can't find stuff all the time.

Unless all of the coins are in 2x2s laying around :LOL_Hair:

I had it labeled, but stuffed it in a small box with unattributed coins. I then stuffed that box in a boot box with miscellaneous things. My wife needed me to clean up my "junk", and I did it quickly & recklessly. Lol!

And yes, I'm swimming in 2x2's. I bought a cooler sized box of 5,000 of them just last year and they are almost all used up!!

It is easy to misplace something so small and so common! I am glad you found it!! I'm afraid to tell you what I misplaced 2 years ago and still can't find!! I will stumble upon it one day just as you did. All is well that ends well!!

I don't know how good they are, but there's about 6,200 of them!!

I see all 6... Unless I turn my monitor off or close an eye :LOL_Hair: Sorry I could not resist it I am a BIG SMARTA today... It may be that the image is to large for the server it is going thru... Try right clicking the image... A sub menu should appear... Click Open Image In A New Tab... If there is an error the tab will tell you what it is... Let me know what you find out!!!
