I found this Monday roll searching... Appears to be a small date... Am I right or am I left??? It appears to match the photos on Lincoln Cent Resource especially at the 96 http://www.lincolncentresource.com/smalldates/1960smalldate.html

I have good news and bad news. You are correct that it is a small date. but the Denver issue of the 1960 small date is every bit as common as the large date. It is only the Philly issue small date that is rare/scarce. You found a common ordinary Lincoln.

I agree. Wish I had a Dollar for very one I have kept (for what reason I don't know).

Fun to find one even with a D.

Like Will said the 60-D SD isn't rare at least in unc rolls, there are probably about as many unc rolls of SD-D as LD-D available if you buy unc rolls and they are similar in price if you find a seller eager to sell them.

But in circulation there are a lot more LD-D than SD-D, still not rare to find like the SD-P but you'll find lots of LD-D before you find a SD-D. So it's still a fun find.

It reminds me of reading some old coin magazines from the 60s. That period was a heyday of hype over selling unc rolls and they were really hyping the 55-S and 60-D SD rolls, probably because the dealers had a lot to sell. The 60-D SD rolls were selling really high like a few bucks per coin and the 60-P SD were off the charts, higher than todays prices. You'll get a laugh if you read those old coin magazines from that period.

That is probably one reason that 55-S and 60-D SD were hard to find in circulation, they were hoarded in unc rolls and hyped by the marketers and a lot of collectors had a bunch of rolls saved.

60-P was similar but there never were that many so when the hype settled the 60-P SD still is worth a few bucks but the 60-D SD and 55-S are pretty cheap.

That is strange how the 60D SD is more rare than the 60P SD... Normally the P minted coins are the ones that there are tons of and D are rare... Guess Denver had the job of making the most of the 60 small dates and Philly got a chance to make a rare one :LOL_Hair:
