    Wicked 1949 D RPM

Haven't had time to search much lately but I invested 30 minutes in the "scattered, smothered, covered" pile today.
This was a pleasant surprise as I didn't recall a '49 D sporting such wickedness.

That's a nice one ! Did your head jump back a bit when that one jumped out at you.

Tracy, Look at Coneca's RPM#10. It's the only one close for position.

You bet it did! I love searching after a long layoff. Finds like this kinda replenish the hunger and make you wanna put your nose back on the ground and go at it again!

I agree. Didn't specify cuz I'm too lazy to restore it and attribute! 😪

I have a bad habit of doing the same. I hate to think of the boxes of stuff I have from when unc. Rolls were cheap and I would stick finds away to attribute another day!

I bet you can see that one with the naked eye. Nice.

Nice find... The MM position looks like VV 010 http://varietyvista.com/02a%20LC%20R...949DRPM010.htm On your closeup of the MM I see what appears to be parts of another MM??? An extra bar running N-S between the serifs and a partial inside loop of a MM inside the loop of the primary MM??? Either it is the gunk messing with my eyes or because VV starts with a Stage D??? I will lean towards my eyes for now

                    Very nice!

I'm guilty too, lots of stuff only marked RPM if it's not unc or didn't have markers making the ID instant. That stuff has been hanging out in boxes for ages.

I see what you are referring to. I'm not sure about the lines but, if you stretch the closeup, there are lines/splits on each serif including the upper and lower mintmarks. I'm thinking it's just MD but I guess it's possible there are more punches here. Perhaps a bath is in order.
