Hello Sheila,

I have processed the coins that you submitted for attribution in a package postmarked October 17, 2016.

The 1983 Lincoln cent is 1983 1¢ WDDO-011 which is a new listing for my files.

Congratulations on the new listing. It will be illustrated on the appropriate page of my website the next time that I update the site. I also plan to use it in my Varieties Notebook column in Coin World. It is scheduled to be illustrated in the January 16, 2017 installment of that column.

I hope that this information helps. Good luck with all of your collecting endeavors.

Sincerely,
John A. Wexler

Awesome!

I wonder if that listing will cross to another listing.
I'm assuming he already listed die-1 so this could be another known one or a new one.
Pretty amazing if it's another unknown DDO that's that strong.

Very cool!

Nice Sheila and a big congrats! It's not often you get your name on a discovery listing that's as bold as that one.

Yes, I know. I don't know how much it would be worth though. Probably not that much.

Congratulations, Shiela! I have a 1983 DDO that is unlisted too that I never got around to sending in. Maybe it is the same as yours! I'll have to go back and check it for the markers when the listing is up.

Yes, that would be a good idea. You can always send it off if you can't be sure. That's what I did.

If Wexler didn't already have something listed that crosses to die-3 then this might be it.

If so, it will be nice to see pics and markers.

I've never seen people attribute die-3, probably because there aren't good listings with markers and they look similar to die-1 (like this coin).

The other thing is that they might not be so uncommon. Most people would assume it's a die-1. I think most TPGs would slab them as die-1. When most TPGs attribute with FS numbers they probably just look at the CPG pics and attribute if the doubling matches because the CPG doesn't show markers for most listings. Not the same with attribution by Wexler or Bob, they go by markers and even if the doubling seems to match they'll know it's a different die by the markers and what it should have in that die state.

If you are referring to the CPG die #3, Wexler already has a listing for that one

Congratulations on the new listing, Sheila. All your perseverance has paid off. That is fantastic. And the value should be decent once the listing and article comes out since it is "the" discovery coin, plus its grade and fairly early die state.
At this point there is only one attributed and it is the "Top Pop"!!!!!!!! :tinysmile_hmm_t:

It looks like John Wexler cross-referenced it as CONECA DDO-010 as well. Currently the photos are uploading but it will be interesting to compare the two in a couple hours once Wexler's website is done updating. Great coin!

It may be my eyes playing tricks but I do not think Sheilas' coin crosses to VVs 010... To me the spread on E TRUST of Sheilas' coin appears to be wider??? Unless it is a different die state... Also if the die scratches between ON and the base are markers to match the 2 those scratches are similar but to me they doe not appear to be in the same locations???

I am with you Jim, it just doesn't look quite right. Hopefully once Sheila gets the coin back in hand she can let us know for sure though.

I couldn't even match up any of the scratches on the reverse.....they're similar, but that doesn't count, and then again, I don't have it in hand and that is the best way

Right click the programs icon - click properties then the Compatibility tab and run the compatibility trouble shooter... I had the same issue on some older programs until I ran that... Win 10 now runs them programs under older versions of Windows... One program even runs under Windows XP Service Pack 1!!!

Sorry...guess I could have been a bit more helpful than posting a meme voicing my disdain over the latest MS OS!

TBH...I'm tempted to go back to XP from 7, but 7's grown on me. That's what I do, after all! Well, that and help maintain a few boards like this :D

Sheila, I'm just so stoked you found that gem hiding away after all this time!! I was in 11th grade when it was minted!! :D

I understand to a point. I don't sleep for almost a week at a time sometimes unless I take a sleeping pill. I hate them, so I don't take them every night like I'm supposed to. The good thing about them is that they don't leave me feeling drowsy when I wake up.

I'm on ambien cr 12.5 mg. I feel fine when I take them as long as I go to bed shortly after taking it. Otherwise, I get loopy. LOL. They can be addictive, so I am careful about taking them. That's why I don't take them every night.
