I've only been seriously involved in collecting for the past 2 years. My wife inherited her dads' collection, and I began metal detecting about the same time and now it's gotten to the point I'm checking my change, going to coin shows, looking at oberses and reverses, buying soft money, buying hard money, and in short, getting ready to need a larger desk and a good safe.

I've become very interested in the history of our U.S. coins and the different patterns, and am trying to pass this same feeling on to my grandkids.

Anyway, it's good to meet you all.

Hi, I have been collecting coins of every kind for many years, although I have always had a special attraction to the lincoln penny. I just wanted to say "Hi" to the community, offer any knowledge that I may have, and to gain knowledge and learn as well. I love the website! It has been very helpful in recognizing some of the coins in my collection. After finding the site I went back into my pennies and found a 1936 DDO, many RPM's and OMM's, and most importantly a 1971 DDO that I am sending in for grading. I am guessing it will grade about ms-64 or ms-65. Its quite a remarkable coin. I guess my question to everyone is which grading company should I use for this coin? I was leaning towards PCGS, but I have never submitted coins for grading before. I look forward to being a part of this community. Thank you!

Hi Chad - Welcome to the forum.

As for which TPG company to send your 71' DDO to really is up to you. ANACS is reasonably priced and you don't have to pay to join their club but PCGS coins sell for more on the secondary market. If your 1971 is a business strike then the value wouldn't merit paying the club fee and the higher grading fees that NGC and PCGS charges. I personally don't consider any other TPG company but there are others like ICG.

Happy Hunting,
Lestrrr

Hey Chad, Welcome to the forum. Go to the "NEW AROUND HERE" part of the forum, and post your question. Your best bet as of now would probably be ANACS
