Spotted this one today while searching a box from my bank. It is the third 1940-s penny with a retained cud that I have found this year. I tried to match it up on cuds-on-coins but I did not see it listed. Maybe the experts here can tell me if it's a new find.

Wow! Very nice retained cud! These seem to be following you around lately! I'm trying to remember, were you able to match the other two?

I'm no expert and certainly not with cuds, just trying to help. I didn't realize there are so many different 40S retained cuds listed. I started going down the list and saw some that are similar to yours 18, 30, 54, 65 and 75, my goodness we need JC's help!

Please email JC at JCStevens43@gmail.com send him photos of your coin and a link to this thread so he can take a look. Keep us posted, and let us know the status of the other two you found! Thank you!

The Mint Mark on the OP has a lot of crud on it, but I think matches the CU-1c-1940S-75R. The reverse matches but looks like a little later die state.

IMHO it's the CU-1c-1940S-75R.

You are correct, according to JC's post! Congrats retiredcopper! Now... you have 2 more on another thread, going to find them!

Edit: retiredcopper, I could not find where you posted the other two, please help me out. I looked at the thread where you found all those IHC and the 1909's, but they were not on that thread.

JC,
Do a side by side of 18R and 75R http://cuds-on-coins.com/lincoln-cent-retained-cuds-1940s/ along with the one on here... The OPs coin has the crack from the O of ONE to the C of CENT... To me 18R and 75R look to be the same die with 18R being the later die stage???

Thank you, going to look for it!

Edit: Found the thread, thank you! I could not remember if those two 40S's were attributed, but it appears we were all in agreement on that! You have found so many nice Lincoln's lately, it's getting hard to keep up! Way to go!
